Manchester United Boss Jose Mourinho Admits Zlatan Ibrahimovic Is Undroppable
Jose Mourinho has admitted that it is
‘impossible’ to drop striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic, who scored a late winner to defeat Crystal Palace on Wednesday, has scored nine times in his opening 15 Premier League appearances since joining Manchester United on a free transfer from PSG.
The Swedish striker, who has replaced Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford as the lead striker at Old Trafford, has moved into undroppable territory, according to Jose Mourinho.
‘Yes, it is,’ the United boss admitted when he asked if it was impossible to drop Ibrahimovic. ‘But tomorrow is the last effort and then they will have a week without football. And that is a week my players need, especially a guy like Zlatan as a striker.’
‘Sometimes in other positions you can hide yourself a little more, protect yourself with experience and with position,’ Mourinho continued.
‘But as a striker, he’s one of the impossible positions where you can hide. He is phenomenal and will play again tomorrow and then have one week to rest.’
Ibrahimovic will start the game away at West Bromwich Albion as the Red Devils target three straight wins in the Premier League.
