Victoria Akarigbo, a divorced woman who was jilted by her husband has been remanded in the Kirikiri prisons for allegedly stabbing her neighbour, Esther Favour who mocked her over her failed marriage.
According to reports, Victoria who lives with her parents at 6, Musa Close, Abule Odu, Idimu, a suburb of Lagos State, was sent packing from her husband’s house but the victim always taunted her over the failed marriage, leading to an altercation with the accused using a broken bottle to stab her.
It was gathered that Victoria had a serious disagreement with her husband and was sent away with her three children. With no other alternative, she decided to go to her parents house.
Victoria’s stay at her parents’ house was often seen as degrading by Favour who always made a mockery of her, by calling her an irresponsible woman.
This angered Victoria who reportedly took a broken bottle, stabbed her at the back with a serious injury and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the police at Idimu division and Victoria was arrested and charged at the Isolo Magistrate’s court, where she pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Shonubi however, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum but ordered that she be remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition while the case was adjourned till December 14, 2016, for hearing.
