‘Very Strange’ Donald Trump Posts Mysterious Tweet About ‘Delayed’ Russian Hacking Meeting

The president-elect claimed a meeting with the heads of the CIA, NSA and FBI about Russia’s alleged involvements in November’s vote had been postponed - saying the delay was “very strange”.

Mr Trump is dubious of allegations Vladimir Putin affected the outcome of the election, despite the US intelligence indicating otherwise.

Last night he tweeted: “The ‘Intelligence’ briefing on so-called ‘Russian hacking’ was delayed until Friday, perhaps more time needed to build a case. Very strange!”

However, officials have claimed that the meeting was always scheduled for Friday.

The tweet from Donald Trump prompted criticism from opponents, who argue the shock election winner must take the threat of Russian interference seriously.

Senator Mark Warner of Virginia tweeted: “Proves the need for Congress to give the American people a timely bipartisan probe."

Incoming Senate Democratic minority leader Chuck Schumer said the tweet was “really dumb” and warned: “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

The FBI, CIA and Director of National Intelligence all revealed earlier this month Russia had interfered with the election, in part to help Mr Trump secure the presidency.

In response, Mr Trump reluctantly said he would speak to officials - albeit adding it was “time to move on”.

He later said of intelligence meetings: “I get it when I need it. I'm, like, a smart person. I don't have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years.”

President Barack Obama has banished 35 Russian officials from America due to the country's interference in the election.

In response, Mr Trump said Mr Putin was "very smart" for waiting until he was in office to react.
